Summer Project

This summer I’m tackling the Haptic Lab DIY Paris map quilt. I chose Anchor Pearl Cotton in colors, which exact names I can’t recall. Numbers 23 (pink), 167 (turquoise blue) and 399 (steel gray).ย IMG_0944

The goal is for this to be complete by the time school starts back up in August. I’m also supposed to lose the 70 lbs I gained having baby boy. Hahaha sigh.

  1. I’d never heard of Haptic Lab, and I like those quilts so much! I haven’t made a quilt since I was a teen, but those are tempting. I’m glad you followed me so I came by and saw your project (with great colors) and link. When I’m not knee deep in patterns I’m part way through, I might have to splurge on a DIY map quilt kit.

(I’m an expat too, but I’m in NZ, so we share a language and there’s plenty of social sewing. Enjoyed your post on sewing in Bucharest.)

    1. I haven’t made a quilt in over a decade and certainly never one in the which the stitching mattered so much. I find I’m heavy handed as I’ve torn through the paper a couple of times. I’m jealous of your social sewing! I’m definitely glad I stumbled across your blog an looking forward to seeing your new creations!

      1. Hi Stella! I came across your blog when googling “sewing classes in Bucharest”. I am also an expat living here and it seems like you are already a step or few ahead of me. Could you maybe hit me up on facebook if not too busy? Thanks a lot. Tomas Jirka

  2. Hey Stella, I am so happy to have found your blog, it is trulily inspiring!
I am also an expat living in Romania, for the last 5 years though, and also a mother… among all things I have been playing in my had with the idea of taking a sewing course but have not found a good match for me around here (you probably understand why by now). I would be more then happy to share ideas and maybe to get some tips out of your experience. Enjoy your day ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hi Anna, Always great to meat another expat sewer! I think it would be awesome to have a little Bucharest sewing group. I still get most of my stuff shipped from the UK as supplies here can be hard to find. Especially fabric. ๐Ÿ™‚
